It’s Not Too Late! Join the Competence Committee

Do you have an interest in ensuring Albertans receive safe and competent OT services? Are you interested in supporting ACOT with the review and evaluations of continuing competence program (CCP) submissions? Perhaps you’d like to provide input on our review and evaluation and practice visit policies and processes? If so, ACOT’s Continuing Competence Committee might be a great fit for you! We are searching for four more Competence Committee Members.

Committee members are appointed to serve for a term of two or three years, to provide continuity through overlapping membership. The Continuing Competence Committee meets on a biannual basis in addition to the training and participation required for the (1) CCP Review and Evaluation and (2) Practice Visits. Committee members are provided with training and opportunities to inform our policies and procedures. The time commitment is approximately 5 hours for training and 20 hours for review and evaluations occurring in the spring and summer, then a further approximately 5 hours for training and 20 hours for practice visits occurring in the fall and winter. Committee members are paid for training time and any review and evaluations or practice visits that they do. New Committee members will be provided with an orientation to the work in late 2022, then join continuing Committee members in early 2023 to prepare for the next review and evaluation cycle that will start in the spring.

If you are interested in this important role, and have a minimum of five years practice experience, please contact Alanna.Ferguson@acot.ca by November 15, 2022, noting any relevant background experience you have that may help your performance of this role.

You will have until the end of February 2023 to complete the online module.

You can access the eLearning module here: https://ot-elearning.skillbuilder.co/

2022 National eLearning Module Tips

Ensure a completed status: The system provides ACOT with the names of those who have completed the modules, so there is no need to add the module reflection sheet to your ACOT continuing competence program (CCP) learning plan or learning records. Although you are welcome to add them into your CCP if you wish for your own tracking purposes.
