The Practice Advisory Committee Needs You!

Dear Members,

I am very excited to facilitate the ACOT Ad Hoc Practice Advisory Committee to create a vision for ACOT’s role in supporting professional practice in our province.  One expected deliverable from the Committee is a clear and replicable process for addressing practice issues that will support our profession now and in the coming years.

The estimated timeline for this project is under one year but may need to be extended. Potential Committee members should anticipate participating in five online meetings and a full day in person meeting during the course of the project.

Who will be the Committee members?  You!  I am looking for 8 occupational therapists who represent a large diversity of practice areas and positions including:

  • Rural and urban
  • North, Central and South
  • Large facility and small
  • Mental health, Physical Medicine, Pediatrics, Neurology, Geriatrics, Chronic Conditions
  • Private and public
  • Community, outpatient and inpatient
  • Front line staff and OT practice leadership
  • Practitioners new to the profession (1-5 years) and those who have been in the profession longer (5+ years)

What’s next? Please send me an email at Mary.Culshaw@acot.ca stating why you are interested in participating on this Committee and a brief description of your work experience. From the possible Committee members, I will be forwarding to Council a shortlist of 8 individuals who collectively offer the most diversity in practice and passions.  Potential Committee members will be confirmed by Council, with work commencing in early June 2017.

I welcome all questions and comments on this project, so please feel free to email me at Mary.Culshaw@acot.ca

Stay tuned for regular updates on the Committee and our progress!
