Updated Practice Guideline – Information Privacy and Management Legislation

Visit the Practice Resources section of the ACOT website to review the new Practice Guideline:  Information Privacy and Management Legislation

This guideline replaces the former Information Privacy and Disclosure Legislation guideline.  In addition to a format refresh, the guideline has been updated to reflect the:

·       current ACOT Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics,

·       changes in privacy legislation (e.g., FOIP replaced by POPA and ATIA), and

·       clarification of record retention requirements.

The new guideline also refers to a new “Duty to Report” practice guideline which will be posted in the very near future.

If you have questions about the guideline or how it applies to your practice context, contact ACOT at info@acot.ca.

Holiday Closure

Note ACOT will be closed over the holidays from noon on December 24, 2025, through
January 1, 2026, and will resume email, phone, and by-appointment office visits on January 2, 2026.
We wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season!
