Updated COVID-19 Guidance and New COVID FAQs

ACOT has received clarification from the Ministry of Health that the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Order 33-2020 does not supersede the practice guideline prepared by ACOT for OTs who are employed / contracted by School Boards / Early Childhood Services program providers. The Safe Delivery of OT Services in a Pandemic practice guideline has been updated to confirm the requirement of continuous masking with medical grade masks for OTs, regardless of work setting, whenever providing direct client care or working in client care areas where physical distancing cannot be maintained. ACOT apologizes for any confusion or disruption in service delivery the ongoing updates to the COVID guideline may have caused.

Our new Practice FAQs: The COVID-19 Pandemic is also now available.

You will find answers to questions about ACOT’s COVID-19 practice guideline, best practices for preventing the spread of COVID-19, the provision of virtual care outside of Alberta, the role of OTs in assisting with the pandemic response, and what to do if you or your client test positive for COVID-19.  We hope you find this document helpful – your feedback is always appreciated.
