New Infection Prevention and Control Guideline Available
As mentioned in the June 19, 2023 eNews, the COVID-19 Guideline has been retired. A new Infection and Prevention Control practice guideline is now in place and can be accessed from the Practice Guidance Documents section of the ACOT website.
Occupational therapists registered to practice in Alberta are expected to be aware of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) principles and practices relevant to their practice setting and client population(s). This guideline is particularly relevant to those registrants who are self-employed or whose employer or contracting agency/organization does not have IPC policies in place. It is intended to support those registrants in implementing IPC measures appropriate to the risks identified in their practice.
Draft Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics out for External Partner Review
We were informed by our colleagues in the Government of Alberta that the draft Standards of Practice (SoP) and Code of Ethics (CoE) were sent out for review by our external partners (other Alberta colleges, Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, etc.) in mid-June. This is excellent news as it means we are on track to adopt the remaining eleven SoP and the new CoE before the end of 2023.
For more information on the SoP/CoE review process and timelines check out the Standards of Practice Refresh page of the ACOT website.
