ACOT President and VP Changes
ACOT welcomes back Andrea Petryk to the role of Council President. Thank-you to Jennifer Lee and Arwen Caines for their time in the Interim President and Interim Vice President roles, when they both provided great leadership. Jennifer returns to her prior role as Vice President and Arwen returns to her prior Councillor role in May.
ACOT Staff Changes and Recruitment
Welcome to Anna Yarmon who joined ACOT on May 3, 2021. Anna comes to us from Alberta Health Services where she worked as an OT on the Housing Support and Outreach Team. Her OT work, combined with her background as a public sector lawyer will serve her well in her 18-month role as Director of Policy & Practice.
Anna will be backfilling Angela Sekulic’s Director of Policy & Practice position while Angela works on updates to ACOT’s Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and Bylaws. These changes will be necessary due to the requirements outlined in Bill 46, the Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2020. This will also provide the opportunity to incorporate updates in OTs’ core competencies developed during the CORECOM project.
ACOT will be saying goodbye to our Complaints Director, Kerstin Hurd next month. Kerstin has been with ACOT for the past year and has done a fantastic job in the role. She is moving on for a promotion position with another organization, opening an opportunity for another OT to move into the Complaints Director role. If you are interested in this position, please submit a resume and cover letter to marianne.baird@acot.ca by May 14, 2021.
