Continuing Care Legislation Review, Updated COVID-19 Info

Invitation to Participate in Continuing Care Legislation Review

The Government of Alberta is undertaking the development of new legislation for the continuing care system in Alberta with the intent of creating a new consolidated and streamlined legislative framework.  ACOT has been invited to prepare a written submission on this.  If you are an OT that works in home care, supportive living or long-term care, we invite you to join us on Monday February 8, 2021 from 6-7:30 p.m. to offer your input to ACOT’s submission. No need to register, just click on this meeting link prior to the start of the meeting.

Not able to join at that time? Let Angela Sekulic know and we will forward a copy of our draft submission for your input prior to the February 19, 2021 submission deadline.

Please note, this opportunity to offer input on the continuing care legislation is in addition to the Facility-Based Continuing Care Review Surveys intended for residents, family members and staff of facility-based continuing care to contribute their thoughts on improvements that could be made. These surveys close January 29, 2021 so it’s not too late to provide feedback if you haven’t done so already.

ACOT COVID-19 Pandemic Guideline and FAQs Updated

ACOT’s Safe Delivery of OT Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic practice guideline has been updated to reflect the latest recommendation from the Government of Alberta to wear eye protection (goggles, visor, face shield) “as an additional layer of protection for all patient/client interactions within two meters in areas where there are ongoing high levels of community transmission” which is currently every region/area in Alberta.

Refer also to the COVID FAQs document which has new content relating to the new eye protection recommendation as well as the vaccine roll-out.
