Action Against Racism and Intolerance Update, Continuing Competence Program Survey

Action Against Racism and Intolerance Update

Over the summer ACOT has continued its work on taking Action Against Racism and Intolerance. We have learned more about the importance of ensuring this work is guided by persons with lived experience of racism and/or intolerance. In the coming days we will issue an invitation for OTs with lived experience of racism and/or intolerance to join ACOT in this work. We will be reaching out broadly with a request for proposals (RFP) for a contractor(s) to help facilitate the work. ACOT is committed to safely exploring OTs’ experiences and ideas for positive organizational change.

Continuing Competence Program Survey

ACOT’s Competence Committee wants to hear from you! We will be reviewing and evaluating Continuing Competence Program (CCP) submissions in 2021. A survey seeking your input on review and evaluation processes (formerly known as audits) will be sent to you next week. Your past experiences with CCP submission audits and your thoughts on what might be useful going forward will help to inform the Competence Committee’s work to develop review and evaluation policies and procedures. All review and evaluation policies and procedures that are developed will be sent to you in advance of any future review and evaluations taking place.

The Occupational Therapists Profession Regulation requires ACOT to periodically review and evaluate a sample of registrants’ CCP submissions. We have moved away from “audit” language towards “review and evaluation” language to reflect ACOT’s focus on supporting OTs to submit Continuing Competence information that accurately reflects their efforts to improve their practice each year, and to be consistent with the wording in our Regulation.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about today’s update.
