Council Election, Auditing Survey, New Website, CORECOM Update, PPE Changes – May 26, 2020

Council Election

For those that have not already voted for ACOT’s newest Council members, it’s not too late! Use your unique link that was sent to you along with voting instructions and information on each of the six OTs who have applied for the two open ACOT Council positions. Remember to vote by May 31st!

Auditing Survey

ACOT’s Competence Committee wants to hear from you! Your past experiences with audits and your thoughts on what might be valuable auditing practices going forward. A survey will be sent out in June, which will help to inform the Competence Committee’s work to develop auditing policies and procedures.

All audit policies and procedures that are developed will be sent to you and posted on ACOT’s web site well in advance of any future audits taking place. Note that the Occupational Therapists Profession Regulation requires ACOT to periodically audit a sample of registrants’ CCP submissions.

ACOT’s New Website

In the next week ACOT’s new website will be launched! It will feature easier navigation, a fresh new look and feel with better functionality on mobile devices. We look forward to hearing your feedback on the new site’s usability.

CORECOM Update

CORECOM is a collaborative initiative to develop a single competency document that will outline entry to practice competencies and describe competencies used throughout occupational therapy practice. The third CORECOM project update is available for viewing here: https://www.corecomcanada.com

Note: CORECOM will be inviting OTs from across Canada to comment on the Draft Competencies through a national online survey. This is scheduled to take place in the Fall of 2020. Stay tuned!

PPE Ordering Changes

On May 25, 2020 the government of Alberta announced changes to its personal protective equipment (PPE) ordering procedures. Private practice OTs are able to order PPE from the government online at https://xnet.gov.ab.ca/ppe until June 30, and will now be required to pay market price for it. After June 30th private practice OTs will need to obtain PPE from their own suppliers.
