Farewell and Welcomes
ACOT would like to recognize the seven years of service Arwen Caines has provided to our governing Council, first as a Councillor, then as Vice President, President, and now moving into the Past President role as of September 1, 2026. Arwen brought a wealth of experience to her role, and guided Council on many decisions such as those related to occupational therapists diagnosing.
Heidi Knupp will be moving into the President role and Joyce Vayalumkal will be moving into the Vice President role as of September 1st, creating our new Executive team, along with our CEO & Registrar, Marianne Baird. We look forward to Heidi and Joyce’s guidance in our continued work to protect the public interest.
We are pleased to welcome back Kristin Ward for her second term on Council, and to also welcome two new Councillors, Elya Cary and Shinu Bobby Johnrin. Between them Kristin, Elya and Shinu represent OTs from rural, urban, remote/virtual, public and private practice settings with children, adults, seniors, in First Nations, schools, and long-term care. We are excited to have all of these perspectives informing Council’s work!
