The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has notified ACOT that the names of some registered occupational therapists are being used together with false employer and contact information to verify a person’s eligibility for the CRA’s Disability Tax Credit program. ACOT has connected directly with the registrants we know have been affected by this, but we thought a general notification about this potentially fraudulent use of occupational therapist names would be of interest to all registrants of ACOT.
The CRA is on top of this situation and is taking steps to investigate and address it appropriately.
