Input Needed on Draft Standards
The survey to capture your feedback on the Competence and Restricted Activities Standards of Practice (SoP) will close Wednesday September 7th @ Noon. To date, people have been taking 30-45 minutes to complete.
You can choose to review and comment on each section of each SoP (screenshots of SoP content are embedded in the survey) or review the two draft SoP (linked above) and provide feedback on the content overall. You may complete the survey on your own or as a group (e.g., at a staff/team meeting, community of practice meet-up, etc.)
FYI – these two SoP in particular have been drafted to reflect the amendments to the Health Professions Act (HPA) outlined in Bill 46. They include content regarding the Continuing Competence Program, Competence Assessments and Restricted Activities currently included in the Occupational Therapists Profession Regulation (OTPR) but will be repealed and removed from the OTPR once the amendments to the HPA come into force (expected Dec 31, 2022). Content within each SoP that cannot be changed has been highlighted in yellow however, you are still welcome to comment, suggest edits or pose questions on any aspect of the draft content.

Council Open Forum

Council Elections or Appointments
Some Alberta regulatory Colleges have moved from elections to appointments for Council members. This allows for targeting of specific skill sets and attributes, such as those in ACOT’s Council skills matrix when selecting Council members. How would this work? Council would determine which skills and attributes are missing on Council, then send a call out for new members, indicating which skills and attributes are being targeted for the round of appointments. OTs who are interested in being ACOT Council members would apply to Council, indicating how their skills and attributes match those being targeted. If more OTs apply than there are positions available, and all applicants have the required skills and attributes being sought, interviews may be held to determine best fit.
