ACOT Needs Your Input!
Upcoming amendments to the Health Professions Act (HPA) and recommendations in ACOT’s Acting Against Racism and Intolerance Report provide a perfect opportunity to update ACOT’s Standards of Practice (SoP) and Code of Ethics (CoE)– both of which have served us well since 2003 and 2005 respectively, but are due for a refresh.
Before we launch into updating our standards and ethical code, we are seeking input from registrants and other key stakeholders. We hope you can join us at one of the engagement sessions scheduled throughout the month of March. Each 1-hour session will provide:
- an overview of the SoP/CoE Refresh Project including project scope, desired outcome, and objectives, activities and timelines to achieve the outcome
- an opportunity to offer input via an online visual collaboration tool called MURAL

ACOT is also open to hosting engagement sessions with your team/workplace – contact Angela Meneley to arrange a date/time.
If none of the session times work for your schedule, you can also watch the 15 minute recording of the Introduction to the SoP/CoE Refresh Project presentation and provide your input via the Stakeholder Input Survey.
We hope to get input from stakeholders across the province in diverse practice areas, settings and roles. Please spread the word to your non-OT colleagues, clients or anyone else you think could contribute to this foundational work.
Stay tuned for project updates throughout the spring and summer – including a call for SoP/CoE Working Group members.
