Alberta College of Occupational Therapists Council Non Confidence Vote

The Alberta College of Occupational Therapists has received 220 signatures calling for a vote of non confidence in the Council. This accounts for more than 10% of registered members, and as a result the Registrar must call a non confidence vote as per Section 5.2 of the Bylaws of the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (The Bylaws).

As a registrant, you will have the opportunity to vote on whether or not you have confidence in the current Council. As soon as the dates of the vote are determined, you will be notified by both email and postal mail on how to cast your vote.

If two-thirds of eligible voters choose to pass the vote of non confidence, the current council will be removed. If this occurs, the Registrar will call for nominations and an election of a new Council within 30 days (Bylaws 5.2)

Even with a decade behind us, the College has never had to call upon members to participate in a decision like this. It is critically important that all registered members participate in this decision. Please voice your opinion and vote when the time comes.
